Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-02

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what rights you have. Nexbour is private by design — no ads, no data selling.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Nexbour, operated by Johann Ruz Vidal as a sole individual based in Dublin, Ireland, is the data controller for the personal data you provide. For any privacy question, contact hello@nexbour.com.

2. What we collect

We collect: your email address (to create your account), your display name and optional profile details (apartment, bio, avatar), your community membership and address used to find it, and the content you post (notices, listings, messages). We do not require a phone number.

3. How we use your data

We use your data to: operate your community and show you relevant content, deliver email notifications you haven't opted out of, keep Nexbour secure, and improve the service. We never sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process your data on the basis of: performing our contract with you (to provide the service), your consent (for optional notifications), and our legitimate interest (to keep the service secure and functional). You can withdraw consent for notifications at any time.

5. Who processes your data

We rely on trusted providers to run Nexbour: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email delivery), and Google (maps and places). These providers process data on our behalf under their own security commitments.

6. Email notifications

We send notifications about activity in your community. You can manage or turn off any category at any time using the "manage notifications" link in every email, or from your settings. Essential account emails may still be sent.

7. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data, though some content may be anonymised rather than deleted to preserve community history (e.g. a notice shown as "a former neighbour").

8. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@nexbour.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Children

Nexbour is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under this age.

10. Artificial Intelligence

Nexbour uses AI to moderate content, suggest categories, analyze photos and generate weekly summaries. Data processed by AI is not stored outside our servers. No personal data is shared with AI providers.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
